Jeans, Jeans, Jeans!
Every time I make a sourcing trip I always go directly to the jeans racks. One of the issues resellers complain about is not being able to find big name brand designer jeans. What I have found is that you absolutely can find some fantastic jeans! A few tips:
1) Learn your brands
Places like Goodwill train their employees to pull some more recognizable designer brands, but they don't tend to keep up! This means you can snag brands carried by Anthropology for a great deal--if you know the names.
More specifically, learn your Levi's! Levi's have a numerous tags, tabs, styles, and limited runs that collectors love. Now, learning Levi's is not for the faint of heart because there is so much to know! Of course you can google and learn a good amount of this information, but I would encourage you to check out LootFam on YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/c/LootFam). They make the best educational videos on Levi's and are very kind about answering questions. I keep their videos in a playlist to quickly double check when sourcing.
2) Know what's in style
This should be a no-brainer as a reseller but sometimes we get hung up on looking for our brand list. Granted, everything comes back in style but if you're looking to not store things for years on end, stay fresh.
For example, Gen Z has spoken and skinny jeans are OUT. I'm distraught personally...actually, I still haven't recovered from low-rise jeans going out of style. I'm short! It's hard to find jeans that have the right rise with my size. I digress because what IS in I am STOKED about! Wide leg baggy pants are back! So comfy, so grungy, so many ripped hems.
3) Time of year
One of the best things about jeans is that they are in all year round, but during warmer months jean shorts are in higher demand. If you have a bunch of out of style skinny jeans consider taking scissors to them and bring them up to date! Remember, measure twice, cut once!
These tips might not be the most revolutionary, but it's a start for anyone getting started. Here are some of the jeans I currently have listed!
